FAQ

What is different about The Ice Revolution, compared to other figure skating seminars?
Your skaters will experience a comprehensive group training program that they can practice regularly, taught by your own coaching staff, which motivates students and creates club cohesiveness, while helping to prevent injuries in an enjoyable, fun, group environment. We emphasize group training, including edges, power stroking, jumps analysis, off-ice strength and conditioning training, dance classes, off-ice jump rotation warm-up, etc.

What happens during the freestyle segment of the seminar?
"The New Revolution" segment includes spin work, jump technique instruction and analysis, using Dartfish motion software.

What is the format of the seminar?
Off-ice and on-ice classes will be run simultaneously based on the level of the skaters for approximately 5 1/2 hours. There will also be a PowerPoint presentation on the Future of Figure Skating training in America. Afterwards there will be a wrap-up about inspiring young skaters to discover their own inner champion and how to develop the courage to realize their goals.

Do coaches need their skates?
We ask that coaches stay off the ice during the entire seminar, but may observe all classes. Coaches may however, get onto the ice with skates to view the TV monitor of the Dartfish portion of the seminar only.

When can coaches ask questions?
Coaches are also asked not to communicate with either our team professionals or students during the classes, but may ask questions after each class is finished.

Who attends the PowerPoint presentations?
Coaches, board members, and parents are encouraged to attend a powerpoint presentation, about running a successful skating program at a lower cost for skaters, increased income for coaches, and higher participation/retention for clubs.

How can I get our club to host a seminar?
Email us at icerevolution@icerev.com or call 484-832-8598 to host a seminar. You must have at least 30 skaters for us to hold a seminar.

How long is the seminar?
This is a half-day six hour seminar, where there are only 5 minute breaks inbetween classes and only a 15 minute break for lunch. Check out our sample schedule.

How many skaters are needed to host a seminar?
Normally, 25 is the minimum number of skaters needed for a seminar. We will have a minimum of four professionals, who will be conducting the various classes and presentations during the seminar, and as many as six if necessary.

What is the involvement of coaches, board members or other clubs in the seminar?
Board members and coaches are welcome to watch any of the classes, but are asked not to interfere with the classes, either by talking to students or coaches during the classes, or by being on the ice.

However coaches and board  members are invited and encouraged to attend the powerpoint presentation given by Alex Druar, about running a successful  contemporary figure skating program, which will generate more money for clubs and coaches, while saving  parents  thousands of dollars over time. Skaters from neighboring rinks or clubs will be contacted to participate.
